Pastor Jim’s COVID-19 Updates & Links

Message from Pastor Jim

March 26, 2020

Dear Peace Family:

What a joy it was to gather together virtually in worship this past Sunday.  We were moved by the response of our congregation and the ways in which we engaged during this unique time in the life of our church.   Our goal is to continue to reach beyond a passive viewing of worship and provide an opportunity for connection and participation.  Thank you for your ongoing engagement, encouragement, and virtual presence with us on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m.  (Follow this link to our Worship Page.)

Through our vision of welcome, develop and engage, we continue to be the church.  Regular ministries, such as Children’s and Youth Ministries are providing programming through virtual gatherings and live broadcasts through Instagram.  Visit our website for information on how to donate to local food banks, care for the homebound of our congregation, and participate in our NEW virtual Community Groups!

Additionally, our Core Leadership Team continues to meet weekly to prayerfully discern the ongoing decisions needing to be made in response to updates and directives provided by the government, health agencies, and our Bishop. Some of our recent decisions are as follows:

  • Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday will happen through our virtual Facebook Live format at 9:30 a.m. In response to a request from our Bishop, they will not be public gatherings.
  • Our other Holy Week activities have been cancelled, including the Soup & Pie Supper, Good Friday Service, and Easter Sunrise Service.
  • Our Bunny Run 5k will be rescheduled to the fall, with more information to come.

Let’s continue to be in prayer for all of those who have been significantly impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19).  This includes those in need of healing, our healthcare workers, and those who are homebound.  We also ask you to pray for those who have experienced a reduction in salary, or loss of employment as a result of the efforts to flatten the curve.  Our Finance Team, in consultation with our Board of Trustees, are developing a strategy to lessen our expenses to include a spending freeze and assessing regular costs that can be temporarily suspended.  However, we still have ongoing financial responsibilities.  As we address this, prayerfully consider maintaining your regular tithe or offering. Here is how:

Through this season, let’s continue to pray, engage, and be a community of hope.  For the bedrock of our faith is Christ, and that is an unshakeable foundation upon which we stand.

“On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.  All other ground is sinking sand.”

Grace and peace,

Pastor Jim
